Botswana Travel Guide

Livingstone

Many visitors to northern Botswana will either start or end their trips here. The Victoria Falls are a magnificent sight, and few can resist a couple of nights here in addition to time on safari. Livingstone, in particular, is very popular with visitors to Botswana. Its riverside lodges are close to the Falls, and yet a perfect complement to Botswana's small camps. Zimbabwe's small town of Victoria Falls is also lovely, though its popularity has waned over the last few years due to the country's troubled politics. Given this, most visitors stay on the northern (Livingstone) side.

Many still venture across the border to see the waterfall from the Zimbabwean side for an afternoon. Both sides have different views, as they have different attractions for visitors. Just as it is worth seeing the two aspects of the Falls to appreciate the whole waterfall, if Zimbabwe's politics have settled down when you read this, then it's worth venturing south to the Zimbabwean town.
