Where to stay

Solwezi has several larger, old-style motels, and an ever-increasing variety of small guesthouses. Most of these are reasonable, but none is really outstanding. The good news is that all are either on, or clearly signposted from, the main tar road through town. If you need a place I'd advise you to follow the cleanest, neatest signboard – and hope that the owners apply the same cleanliness and neatness to their property.

When it comes to eating there are plenty of small local places offering occasionally dubious rice and chicken to passing travellers, especially near the market, but there's really no culture here of Solwezi's smarter citizens going out to restaurants for dinner. Hence I couldn't find anywhere interesting to eat, and would recommend shopping at Shoprite, and then cooking for yourself!

I was intrigued by the Caveman's Nightclub, but didn't venture in there; I'd welcome first-hand reports on this from any other travellers.
