Getting there

The entrance to Kasanka, on its eastern border, is marked with a large sign. Coming from Kapiri Mposhi, do refuel in Serenje, as there is no fuel available in the park. Then 36km northeast of Sereje, take the main left turning signposted to Samfya and Mansa. This is usually referred to as the 'Chinese Road' because, like TAZARA, a Chinese company built it. After about 55km (the milestones on the left of the road are no longer readable!) turn left, where you will find the the Mulembo Scout Post and the entrance gate to the park (GPS: TUKASA). You may need to register and pay an entrance fee here, but if the post is unmanned then just proceed to Wasa Lodge. If you're flying around, then the park has two good 1,200m airstrips for light aircraft – and they're very aviation-friendly.
