Maun Lodge

(30 rooms) Plot No 459, Boseja, PO Box 376, Maun; tel: 6863939; fax: 6863969; email: maun.lodge@info.bw
Maun Lodge is a small efficient, modern hotel on the south bank of the Thamalakane River, next to the Tawana Road Bridge. Entering you'll find a high lobby with a locally produced rug on the wall together with a trendy metal sculpture of pelicans.

The lodge's rooms all have twin beds with ethnic-print covers, tea/coffee-making facilities, and a jug of water. The en-suite bathroom usually has a bath with fixed shower above it, a large mirror, a washbasin and a flush toilet. The floors are tiled and you'll find pictures on the walls, but otherwise the decor is bland. That said, they have efficient air conditioning, decent sized TVs, direct-dial telephones, and everything feels very clean and well maintained. Maun Lodge also has an outside swimming pool and a conference centre. If you need a fairly standard business-like hotel, this could be for you.

At the back you'll find ample parking patrolled by security guards (a big bonus for drivers), and the Pygmy Goose Pub and Restaurant. Whilst this isn't the town's hottest party venue, it does serve a good continental breakfast for P20, and will do an à la carte dinner if you don't have the energy to venture further.
