Where to eat
Shoprite has come to Kasama, and with it a vast array of foodstuffs and commodities are now obtainable that were very difficult to find previously. For a bite to eat there are lots of small cafés. The Tropicana Restaurant set back from the main crossroads serves typical nshima and chicken/meat/fish; it is very basic, but friendly. The Golden Tulip (tel: 04 221642), found behind the Bata shoeshop, is small, quaint and serves tasty Zambian food (rice with everything!). Leah's Snackshop on the main road, opposite the central market in town, is small and serves well-prepared snacks. Then there's the Hungry Lion, part of Shoprite (which itself is the largest bakery in town), and lots of smaller places will also sell bread and filled rolls.
