Opened in early 2003, Carole Kirkley's new place is modern, light, airy and clean, with colourful murals depicting Zambian life and attractions, and secure parking. Double and triple rooms share a bath and toilet (the triples have a fan and facilities to make hot drinks). Laundry can be done for US$4/Kw20,000. There's also a guest kitchen and an attractive dining area; meals from a surprisingly broad menu average US$3/Kw15,000, or you can order a takeaway from the local Indian – Premium at 61 Great East Rd. Despite the name, it's proving more popular with the local market than with backpackers, perhaps because it's all quite tidy and organised.
