If you get ill in or near Kitwe, then there is an excellent mine hospital: Nkana Mine Hospital, PO Box 21900. (Tel: 02 243555/249555; fax: 228917/225082.) As you enter Kitwe from Ndola take a left at the first set of traffic lights, and go past the mine. The hospital is opposite Nkana's main offices.

Both of the above offer ambulances and in-patient care, as well as emergency cover. They also offer short-term insurance cover for visitors, which can be arranged prior to arriving in Zambia or at their local offices after arrival.
