This small park, just 247km2, is situated between North and South Luangwa national parks and can only be reached between about May and October. The first serious rains turn the area's powdery black-cotton soil into an impassable quagmire – impossible even for the best 4WD. Even in the dry season the roads are bad, as the black-cotton soil then seems to set into bumps.
