Road to Mweru Wantipa
Coming northeastward from Kapiri Mposhi, it's always wise to refuel at Serenje. See map inside front cover. Then, about 36km further along the Great North Road, there's a main left turning signposted to Samfya and Mansa. This is the artery that runs over 580km of tar to Nchelenge, in the far northwest corner of the country.
The section of this up to the T-junction (just west of Samfya) is usually referred to as the 'Chinese Road' because, like TAZARA, the Chinese built it. After about 55km you'll pass the entrance on your left to Kasanka National Park, and then 10km later the right turn which leads to the Livingstone Memorial and Bangweulu.
