Some decades ago the Lusaka Hotel was the only hotel in Lusaka, right at the centre of town. Now the area around the hotel's entrance on the bustling Cairo Rd is always busy with people loitering suspiciously, and if you stay here you should be careful with both your belongings and your vehicle; not an inviting prospect. There's a security guard on the entrance.
Inside, the hotel feels old, small and noisy, but clean. Budget rooms have tea/coffee makers, M-Net television, a telephone, a fan and an en-suite toilet/shower room. The 19 standard rooms are a little larger with baths as well as showers, and AC instead of fans. Décor is simple, and the sombre carpets give a drab appearance.
