Aquarium

Rather surprisingly, Victoria Falls town is home to Africa's largest freshwater aquarium, including some 62 different species of fish plucked from the middle Zambezi and displayed in settings to mirror their natural habitats, as well as a 200,000-litre main exhibition tank full of 'big fish'. If you thought fish were boring, a visit here, costing just US$5, will set you straight. Informative guides will regale with you with surprisingly fascinating fish facts. Did you know that the Zambezi River – with its varied eco-systems – contains over half of Africa's freshwater fish? The aquarium is professionally run by an expert ichthyologist (someone who studies fish) and is not only very interesting but educational as well. While keen anglers will undoubtedly be in their element here, the aquarium is great family fun and well worth a visit during your stay. It's located on the Falls road at the top of the Landela complex, across and down from the Wimpy. You can't miss its big sign in front.
