Shamabinga

(7 rooms) Plot 174, Wolfram Av, PO Box 9088, Itimpi, Kitwe; tel 02 711448; fax 711329 or 212726.
Shamabinga has a main house with three rooms and two adjacent chalets. In the house there is a lounge with satellite TV, a kitchen, a dining room, a bar, and also facilities for guests to use the telephone and fax machine.

The larger chalet, called Shamabinga, has two rooms, each with en-suite facilities, which share a lounge, dining room and kitchen. The second chalet, Savanna, has just two rooms with their own showers and toilets, but no communal rooms. All are comfortably furnished and use local Zambian curios and crafts.

The interest in Shamabinga lies in its surroundings. This is a place containing a number of smallholdings, which in colonial days was developed as a sort of market garden to feed the towns of the Copperbelt.
