Wild Tracks

(4 chalets, 4 tree houses) P Bag RW26X, Lusaka; tel: 01 235333, 251584, cell: 096 860553; email: info@wildtracks.info; www.wildtracks.info
This no-frills camp, located 22km from the pontoon down a narrow, overgrown track, is particularly popular for children's adventure holidays. Square wood-and-thatch chalets with toilet and shower en suite offer simple but spacious accommodation. Rooms vary in size: some are large, with several beds and complete with a kitchen sink, others have just single beds; all have screened windows. Tree houses, set up on stilts, have one room with screened windows but no view of the river. There's a shared ablution block and a big pool. In the centre is a larger tree house which effectively forms a meeting hall for visitors to the camp. Visitors here will need to bring in all their own provisions, although there is a cook on site to prepare meals.

Pontoon-style boats are available for hire at a cost of US$20 for two hours, plus petrol.
