Orientation

The heart of the town is small, comprising shops, offices and a campsite within a few metres of the landmark Wimpy restaurant. Many businesses here depend on visitors: travel agencies/tour operators, take-aways, souvenir shops. Few still thrive.

Between the town and the Falls, the railway station stands opposite the gracious old Victoria Falls Hotel – now adjacent to the newer Kingdom. Head south from the Wimpy, away from the Falls, and you pass the main township on the left. Later, 25km from the centre, comes Victoria Falls airport, as you begin the long road south to Bulawayo.

Go northeast, following the Zambezi upstream, and the scenery rapidly opens out to bush. Soon you reach the national park's riverside restcamp and campsite, on your right, and then the Zambezi National Park.
