Where to stay

Victoria Falls has many hotels, catering for the international market, but there are no bush lodges near to town, although Ilala Lodge comes close with its more intimate setting and elephants, baboons and buffalo wandering nearby. Outside town, however, and in Zambezi National Park, there are some luxury lodges worthy of mention, including Stanley & Livingstone, owned by Rani Africa (tel: +27 11 467 1277, email: reservations@raniafrica.co.za) and the Gorges Lodge, not surprisingly along the gorge, and from which we've received good reports. There are also several good campsites around town, so those with a vehicle have more options than just the town council's campsite in the centre. Establishments listed here are within 10km of the Falls:

Guesthouses

Many residents of Victoria Falls capitalised on the tourist boom by offering accommodation in newly built guesthouses in the residential areas. Some of these are very comfortable, complete with swimming pools and lovely gardens, but in the current political climate the status of many is uncertain.

Kalai Lodge
Livingstone Tranquillity Lodge
Lorries Lodge
Shoestrings
Villa Victoria

Camping

In many ways the Zambian campsites – at Maramba River, Nyala Lodge, The Waterfront, etc – are better than those in Zimbabwe. In recent years, new Zimbabwean campsites have opened up, but the two most established are as follows:

Victoria Falls Town Council Campsite
Zambezi National Park Restcamp
