Chibembe

Chibembe Lodge

In the northwest of the park, Chibembe was a large and busy lodge with a long history. There was a hunting camp recorded here as long ago as 1932, and later it became the centre of operations for Wilderness Trails, an old Zambian company closely connected with the Luangwa. In 1998 it was sold to Chilongozi, who badly overstretched themselves and went bust. The site is now unused, but it's such a good area that you may hear the name resurrected at any time…

Chibembe's walking camps

Chibembe had five small satellite bushcamps, all situated in a private walking area within the park to the west of the camp: Mumbulu, Kasansanya. Changwa, Nakalyo and Nyakabvumo. They're in a superb walking area, so don't be surprised if you do hear of them being used again.
