Run by former Lusaka hotelier Richard Chanter, Chanter's is both a restaurant and a small guesthouse. It stands in a leafy residential area on the northern side of Livingstone, perhaps 2km from the centre. To reach it, follow Mosi-oa-Tunya Rd towards Lusaka, and turn left on to Obote Av just before the road bends to the left. Lukulu Crescent is the fourth right turn; it is not named on some maps, but is well signposted.
Rooms are basic and functional, with wooden parquet floors, twin beds, satellite tv (all showing the same station) and a bath with shower attachment in the tiled, en-suite bathroom. Two rooms have ceiling fans and one is air-conditioned. The public rooms are more stylish, with tables and chairs extending on to a patio and garden at the back. Good food is served all day, with a nice variety on offer.
