Run by the indomitable Grubby, this is used only by overland trucks. It can be difficult to find, as most maps don't show the section of road it is on. The easiest way to get there is to turn north from Mosi-oa-Tunya Rd for three blocks, and then turn right on to Maambo Way (some maps still show a very old name of Northway for this road). Follow this past Kashitu St, and the Grotto is behind a large set of gates on the left, just before Obote Av.

Once inside you'll find a huge old colonial house, with a bar, toilets and lounge. The lawns around the house are used for camping and there's a large swimming pool. Food isn't normally provided, though you can use their kitchen facilities and, with advance notice, meals can be arranged including a spit-roasted sheep. The overland groups staying here form the basis of the trips for Raft Extreme.
